The Cheshire Bonsai Society was formed in 1987. Since then we have increased our knowledge, expertise and membership. Between us, our committee has over 80 years involvement in bonsai, and frequently we have our Society's "Professional", Chris Williams on hand, who has a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in this ancient art. In 1999 we exhibited at the first RHS Show to be held at Tatton Park, Knutsford. The following year when medals were awarded we were thrilled to achieve a silver medal. Since then we have been awarded with a medal each year, progressing from silver, through silver-gilt to gold. We also exhibit at the Shrewsbury Flower show in August, where the Society stand has been in the first three several times, with our members being very successful in the individual classes. The Society and individual members have also exhibited at various other horticultural and bonsai events with excellent results. Three of our members also have trees which have been chosen for the Register of Important British Bonsai (RIBBS), an achievement of which the individuals and the Society are very proud. |
